Curriculum

Ravens Wood prides itself on the broad and balanced curriculum it offers its students.  Our curriculum is based around the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, reflecting our specialist schools status.  We believe in monitoring the progress of our students and providing them with quality feedback that allows them to set clear and relevant targets to be successful in their subjects.

At the beginning of year 7 students undertake ‘CAT’ tests whereupon they are placed into sets in English, Mathematics and Science.  Ravens Wood believes that setting by ability is the fairest and most efficient way of grouping students.  We operate a flexible system regarding ‘setting’ and make termly reviews to ensure students are best placed to progress at the various key stages.
